Song Recorded!

Finally recording has come to an end. Its not quite sounding as nice as i would have liked, but it will do. During recording i had some trouble with bars 12, 13, and the final 2 and a half bars.

Instead of using Audacity i recorded and mixed in Ableton Live. I am much more familiar with the controls of it, and found I could perform the same task faster in it. I did have small amounts of trouble in the recording process. I was forced to use a usb rock band microphone. The delay that mic had varied making it difficult to move the recording back on time.

Well Im going to record it on the CD now, hope you enjoy it!

CD Finished

I have completed the CD design and am really happy with it, I now have all the sax problems worked out and am going to record soon. Hopefully there will be no disruptions and everything goes smoothly.

More practicing in school

I continued to practice the song today during class. I was practicing with the music. Now that I figured out i was missing the repeat the song sounds really good at the beginning, but as the song goes on, i keep getting lost at certain parts.

When i finally am able to record, i do not think i will need to slow the song down. After becoming for familiar with the piece of music, the music does not feel as fast.

Last night i did not end up finishing the CD cover so i will probably do that tomoro night now, thanks to the extension till Monday. I also hope to finally get to the recording tonight! We'll just have to see how it goes.

No Ligature

I finished getting the mike and audacity set up with the piano part. I then pulled out the alto sax to learn that the ligature was missing. Fantastic.

Looks like I'm just go to have to work on the CD design portion tonight and record tomorrow.

On a side note, after practicing today in class with the piano on my ipod, it is starting to come together alot better. I realize why it sounded wrong before; i was forgetting the repeat!

First day playing with music

For the past couple of days i have been practicing the music with mixed success. The first day was a struggle because i had no idea what the song should sound like. That night i went home and downloaded the track and listened to it. After practicing the next day, the song began to sound more like a song, and less like notes.

Now that I have the sax home and am playing with music, it is sounding ok. The piece is a little bit fast and hitting the higher 8th notes is sometimes a struggle at this speed.

I plan on slowing the piece down and seeing how that will go. The slower piece and the regular speed will both be put on my ipod so that further practice can take place after school.

I hope to have the song recorded by Tuesday night. This will allow me time to get it on the CD, and do other aspects of the assignment on Wednesday.
